Yes, tinnitus can start from stress. That’s right, unfortunately.
There are two ‘pillars’ that keep you from hearing tinnitus:
- Your possible hearing damage
- Your physical and psychological resilience
If you have hearing loss but are in good shape, your brain may be able to filter out the tinnitus sound. You won’t hear it.
The vicious cycle
If your mental and/or physical resilience is lower, for example due to stress, you can handle less. As a result both pillars fall over: you now suddenly hear your tinnitus sound.
You can then enter a vicious circle: you hear tinnitus, it stresses you out, which makes your brain less able to filter it out, which in turn causes you more stress.
A solution
I have developed a course that helps you get out of that vicious circle through cognitive behavioral therapy, tinnitus retraining therapy and mindfulness.
You can watch the first 5 lessons for free.
Good luck and success!
